Siniloan, Laguna, Philippines
Siniloan is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Laguna, Philippines. It lies between the plains of Sierra Madre Mountain and the Laguna de Bay, bounded on the North by the town of Famy, on the West by Mabitac, on the East by Pangil and on the South by Laguna Lake. It has a total land area of 6,442.88 hectares politically subdivided into 20 barangays. Siniloan was established as a town on the last Friday of August, 1583 with Guiling-Guiling as its first name born out of an anecdote when a group of Spaniards passed by a rice field where some women were grinding rice with the use of grindstone or "gilingang bato". In 2002, the Municipality launched "Gilingan Festival" to commemorate its foundation day highlighted by street dancing and a variety of cultural shows and activities. Siniloan is known as the center of education, commerce and transportation, serving towns in eastern Laguna and some towns from the provinces of Quezon and Rizal. The municipality has active business and trade activities.

How to get there

  • Siniloan is an inverted L-shaped mass of land which is about 120 kilometers from Manila via Marcos Highway passing through Teresa, Morong, Tanay, Pililla, Rizal and Mabitac, Laguna. From EDSA Crossing, take a jeepney or SUV ride to Tanay and transfer to jeepney plying the Tanay-Siniloan route. At the Robinson's Place, Cainta Junction, take a jeepney ride straight to Siniloan Public Market. Second is via South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) passing through Sta. Cruz, Laguna. If you are going by public transportation via SLEX, a bus from Taft Avenue corner Buendia going to Sta. Cruz will be your first means of transportation. In Sta. Cruz, jeepneys going to Siniloan circle the town plaza and are easily accessible. From Sta. Cruz, a ride to Siniloan will take about an hour long since jeepneys going to the town pass through Pagsanjan, Lumban, Kalayaan, Paete, Pakil and Pangil. Once in Siniloan, you don’t have to worry where to get off since it will stop at the jeepney terminal in front of Siniloan Public Market. From there, tricycles are accessible, which will take you to neighboring towns and nearby barangays like Macatad or Tres (Kilometer 3).
